BEHIND THE PRODUCT: The year was 1857, when Jean Neuhaus opened a pharmacy in a prestigious area of Brussels. To make medicines tastier to take, he covered them in chocolate. Later, in 1912, John Neuhaus Jr. re-invented his grandfather’s practical creations and turned them into every-day, all-occasion tasty pleasures. He replaced the medicine-center with a decadent chocolate cream ganache, and the world's first filled chocolates were born. He called them "pralines," and the rest is chocolate history.
