Our chefs start by seasoning premium lamb shanks with savory spices, then slow-cooking each in a classic method using red wine. The red wine reduction allows for a more flavorful and tender Lamb Shank that absorbs all the delicate notes of dry red wine and portobello mushrooms in a cacophony of flavor. After being slow-cooked for a considerable amount of time, the tender lamb meat falls right off the bone without the need of a knife. 

The dish is finished with a luxurious and flavorful Portobello mushroom sauce for a meal worthy of both a fine-dining restaurant and your home dinner table. Our pre-cooked Lamb Shank with Portobello Mushrooms and Red Wine is an easy meal to serve in 40 minutes or less. Recipe:

⅛ teaspoon powdered saffron
2 cups boiling water, divided
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup uncooked long-grain white rice, not rinsed
1 teaspoon salt

Step 1: Steep the saffron in 1/2 cup boiling water.

Step 2: In a skillet, melt the butter over medium-high heat. Stir in the rice and salt. Cook, stirring constantly, until the rice begins to absorb the butter and becomes opaque, but do not brown the rice.

Step 3: Quickly pour in the remaining 1 1/2 cups boiling water along with the saffron water. Cover immediately, reduce heat to low, and cook 20 minutes, or until all of the liquid is absorbed. For best results, do not remove the lid while the rice is cooking.
