Cedar Planks for Grilling
DISTINCTIVE QUALITIES: Cedar planks are full of aroma and flavor. Use them to grill your Kolikof beef, pork, fish, and lamb. Simply soak the plank(s) in water for at least 2 hours before grilling (so it doesn't burn). Season with desired spices, then place your food on the plank, put the plank on your grill, and cook until desired doneness.
BEHIND THE PRODUCT: Cedar planks infuse grilled foods with a natural and desirable smoky woodiness that enhances the flavor of foods—especially salmon. The planks work their magic by adding a natural barrier between your food and the heat of the grill. At the same time, the scent of the moist, cooking wood is gently steamed into your food. This process retains the moisture in foods while imbuing them with gentle natural tasty goodness.
SERVING SUGGESTIONS: Especially for seafood—grilling with a cedar plank means you do not need to add oil or added calories to your fish fillets (tip: use skinless fillets). We prefer our Faroe Island Salmon or Ōra King Salmon. Plus, when grilling directly on grates, it is often typical to lose some of your fillets through the grill grates—grilling on a plank means you will keep your fish fillets whole.
